Warmadewa University held a Public Lecture "Great Women Produce Great Generations" by presenting the Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection of the Republic of Indonesia Bintang Puspayoga as a resource person on Monday (12/02/2024) at the Widya Sabha Uttama Auditorium of Warmadewa University.
Unwar Chancellor, Prot. Dr. Ir. I Gde Suranaya Pandit, MP., said that Unwar has succeeded in realizing gender equality at various levels of leadership, one of which is a qualified woman. Likewise, the Dean of the Unwar Postgraduate Program is a woman with a professorship. For him, women have a strategic role in producing a decision to produce quality human resources. "The arrival of Minister Bintang Puspayoga has had a tremendous impact on Warmadewa because this campus has succeeded in realizing gender equality at various levels of leadership, said Prof. Pandit.
One of the interesting points of the public lecture was the high appreciation given by Minister Bintang Puspayoga to Warmadewa University for the gender equality implemented on campus. He emphasized the importance of giving women strategic positions in academic positions that are in line with the government's vision in empowering women and protecting children.
The Chairperson of the Bali Province Korpri Welfare Foundation, Prof. Dr. Drs. Anak Agung Gede Oka Wisnumurti, M.Si., who also attended the event stated that the issue of women and children is still a major concern for the Indonesian government and society. He hopes that what Minister Bintang Puspayoga conveyed can be a study material for students, lecturers, and researchers at Warmadewa University to produce real contributions in efforts to realize gender equality and child protection. "So women have not received fair and equal access related to political, social, cultural, economic, and even work access so this must be fought for together," he concluded.
Indonesian Minister of PPPA Bintang Puspayoga emphasized that cooperation between ministries and universities is very important in efforts to build women and child protection. He also highlighted the importance of implementing the women-friendly and child-care village and sub-district program that has been pioneered since 2021. According to him, there is still a lot of homework to be completed in terms of policies related to women and children in Indonesia.
On that occasion, Minister Bintang Puspayoga also gave high appreciation to Warmadewa University for not discriminating against gender, but rather providing equal opportunities to women in various positions including at the leadership level. "This is in line with the Ministry's commitment to eliminate all forms of discrimination against women," said the minister. This public lecture is not only a forum for exchanging ideas and knowledge but also an important momentum in moving concrete steps towards a more just and inclusive society for women and children in Indonesia. After giving a public lecture at Unwar, Minister Bintang Puspayoga visited Warmadewa Independent Shining (WISH) School and at the same time gave his appreciation for the concept of the building and service facilities owned as a child protection and education institution.
