Warmadewa University Holds Community Service in Singapadu Tengah Village

Gianyar, June 5, 2024 – Warmadewa University has once again demonstrated its commitment to the community through the Regional Superior Product Development Program (PPUD). On Wednesday, June 5, 2024, a community service team from Warmadewa University conducted community service in Singapadu Tengah Village, Gianyar, focusing on the Balinese traditional carving and building craft group.

This community service activity involved a number of students and lecturers from Warmadewa University who provided socialization and counseling related to the process of recording financial activities. Participants were taught how to create profit/loss reports, production cost reports, and balance sheet reports. This approach is expected to improve the financial administration skills of craft groups so that they can be more effective in managing their businesses. In addition, in order to preserve the art of carving and traditional Balinese buildings, the service team also conducted training in traditional carving and building techniques.

This training aims to enrich the skills of the craftsmen and ensure the sustainability of Bali's unique cultural heritage. The service group from Warmadewa University is led by Dr. Ir. I Wayan Parwata, MT., IPU. ASEAN Eng, with members Prof. Dr. Drs. I Wayan Wesna Astara, SH., M. Hum., MH, Dra. Lilik Antarini, M.Erg, and I Nyoman Sutapa, SE., M.Si. They work together with students to provide the assistance and training needed. In this activity, they also partner with Tori Kreasi Art and Decor as a representative of the craft group.

To support these activities, the community service group also provides several investments in the form of accounting software and several other tools. This investment is expected to help the craft group manage their finances better and increase efficiency in the production process. "We hope that with this program, the craftsmen in Singapadu Tengah Village can further develop and be able to compete in a wider market. In addition, the involvement of students in this activity is also part of their learning in community service," said Dr. Ir. I Wayan Parwata, head of the community service team.

This PPUD program is expected to not only provide direct benefits to craft groups, but also be an inspiration for other educational institutions to continue to contribute to the development and preservation of superior regional products. Through this activity, Warmadewa University continues to strive to provide real contributions to the Balinese community, especially in improving the quality and competitiveness of local craft products on the national and international stage.
