Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Bali are still weak in utilizing information technology in business development. This condition causes MSMEs in Bali to have difficulty developing and have not been able to exist in the international market. This was conveyed by the Head of Community Service, Faculty of Economics and Business, Warmadewa University, I Gede Nyoman Carlos in his statement on Sunday (16/5).
Based on field observations conducted by Carlos together with Putu Yudha Asteria Putri and I Gusti Ayu Ratih Permata Dewi while providing PKM assistance in Bona Village, Blahbatuh District, Gianyar Regency, it was found that the obstacle to the "mandate" of the MSME business process was that they did not have bookkeeping to calculate profit and loss, cost of production and recording of assets owned, did not have SOPs, both related to raw materials and the flow in the production process. "Marketing is done only with individuals, because of the low knowledge of using the e-commerce system," he explained.
According to Carlos, MSMEs are by far the largest contributor to GDP in Indonesia. If MSMEs can be managed well, they will be able to provide an extraordinary contribution to a country's domestic income. Carlos said it was time for MSMEs to maximize the use of e-commerce to support business development. A fairly simple initial step that can be taken is to create a website and hold exhibitions at online events on social media.
