The Warmadewa University Community Partnership Program (PKM Unwar) targets the O Yess Women Farmers Group (KWT) in Sanur Kauh Village, South  Denpasar District , Denpasar City. The PKM team led by Ir. AAS Putri Risa Andriani, M.Si., provided training on making Trichoderma Compost.

Putri Risa explained the background of the implementation of PKM in KWT O Yess, because previously KWT O Yess had implemented the use of organic fertilizers on its vegetable plants. However, the rainy season conditions caused several fungi/fungi that cause plant diseases to grow such as Rigdiforus lignosus, Fusarium oxysporum, Rizoctonia solani, Fusarium monilifome, sclerotium rolfsii and Sclerotium rilfisil fungi.

"Some plants are damaged by the presence of pathogenic fungi, so it is necessary to find a solution to reduce the growth of pathogenic fungi on plants," he said.

Together with members of the PKM Team, Ir. Ni Ketut Sri Rukmini, MP, and Ir. I Gusti Ayu Dewi Seri Rejeki, M.Sc., then PKM was carried out on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at the Sanur Kauh Village Head Office. On that occasion, counseling was given on the technology for making Trichoderma Compost, followed by direct practice in making Trichoderma Compost.

"With the concept of controlling plant pests (OPT) naturally, to obtain healthy plant cultivation and free from disease (especially plant diseases caused by pathogenic fungi) we can use Tricho Compost fertilizer. This fertilizer is a fertilizer made by utilizing biological agents in the form of Trichoderma sp in its mixture," he explained.

Tricho Compost Fertilizer, he continued, has many benefits, namely it can prevent/reduce diseases that spread from and in the soil, improve soil structure and texture and increase soil quality and fertility. Other uses of Trichoderma compost fertilizer are soil improvement, maintaining soil microbial balance, providing nutrients to plants, controlling soil-borne pathogens and fertilizing the soil.

Based on the research results, Trichoderma compost fertilizer can suppress pathogenic fungi by 98.53%. So that KWT O Yess led by Ni Wayan Sudani will produce healthy plants free from pathogenic diseases.

The fundamental contribution given to partners is one of the functional microorganisms widely known as soil biological fertilizer and biofungicide is Trichoderma, sp fungus, this microorganism is a soil-dwelling fungus that can be isolated from the roots of field plants. Trichoderma, sp in addition to being a decomposing organism, can also function as a biological agent and plant growth stimulator.

It was further explained that Trichoderma, sp can inhibit the growth and spread of fungal toxins that cause disease in plants such as the fungus Rigdiforus lignosus, Fusarium oxysporum, Rhizoctonia solani, Fusarium monilifome, sclerotium rolfsii and the fungus Sclerotium rilfisil.

"The use of biological fertilizers and biological agents Trichoderma, sp is very effective in preventing stem rot, root rot that causes plants to wilt, and white root fungus disease in plants," he said.

Through the PKM, farmers are willing to implement the use of trichoderma compost fertilizer to overcome the growth of pathogenic fungi in vegetable plants. In addition, trichoderma compost fertilizer also has other benefits such as preventing/reducing diseases that spread from and in the soil, improving soil structure and texture and increasing soil quality and fertility.
