Lecturer at Warmadewa University, A.A Sagung Dewi Rahadiani, in community service in Ubung Kaja Village, said that the Ngaben ceremony is one of the Balinese Hindu community's pitra yadnya ceremonies. The implementation of the Ngaben ceremony in Bali is greatly influenced by social norms and traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation.
The problems that often occur in society are due to the high costs of the Ngaben ceremony and its complicated implementation. To overcome the problems that occur in society, several ideas have emerged, such as mass Ngaben or Mengerit. In recent years, alternative Ngaben ceremonies have also been popular, which are carried out in crematoriums. This change certainly cannot be blamed considering the changing times, where the Balinese people's main livelihood is no longer farming. Changes in livelihood will certainly change people's habits. The free time they have is certainly no longer like an agrarian society.
To anticipate changes in the times without ignoring tradition, it is certainly necessary to agree on the rules of the Ngaben ceremony in society. With the hope that the Ngaben ceremony will still be carried out in a nyama bray manner according to hereditary traditions and religious literature, but in terms of costs it can be saved (cheap). For these hopes to be realized, of course, careful planning and accurate recording must be carried out so that the ceremonies in the cremation ceremony can be made more structured.
The solution to the partner's problem through community service activities is to assist in documenting the ceremonies used in the Ngaben ceremony in Banjar Tegal Kauh. The documentation will be made in the form of a book containing the ceremonies used and the series of ceremonies. And, assist in making a budget for the cost of the Ngaben ceremony.
