28 Jun 2023. The Warmadewa University Community Partnership Program (PKM Unwar) team is eyeing the culinary UMKM actor “Warung Dedari”. The academics and students of PKM Unwar help with the classic problems of UMKM actors in boosting their businesses.
Warung Dedari is a group of MSMEs that offers Balinese culinary specialties such as laklak cake, pork satay and pork rice. The price of each food is pocket-friendly, but with a distinctive taste. The location of Warung Dedari is close to a tourist destination, namely the Dedari waterfall. The results of interviews conducted by the Unwar PKM Team showed that the Warung Dedari MSME group often encounters several problems, including the lack of promotion of their products to the wider community, the lack of understanding of excellent service in English to serve foreign tourist buyers, the unavailability of books or menu displays for buyers, the absence of digital payment tools, namely QRIS, and the lack of arrangement in the MSME group's premises.
Finding some of these problems, the 2023 Unwar PKM Team led by Dr. Agus Darma Yoga Pratama, SS, M.Hum., along with team members including I Gusti Ayu Agung Dian Susanthi, SS, M.Hum., and Ni Made Rai Juniariani, SE, M.Si. This PKM activity is also a form of implementation of one of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
In order to help overcome the problems faced by the Warung Dedari UMKM group, the Unwar PKM Team provided assistance including making audiovisual videos to promote their products, assistance in providing excellent service for foreign tourists with several materials provided, namely welcoming guests which include greetings, handling complaints.
In addition, the Unwar PKM Team also provides assistance in creating menus in the form of QR Codes and hard copies translated into two languages, namely Indonesian and English, providing assistance with digital payment media, namely QRIS, decorating the sales area to make it look more attractive and neat, and some additional assistance provided to support services, namely plates and ingka.
Agus Darma as the Head of the Unwar PKM Team explained that content creation (audiovisual) is a promotional technique that combines sound and video so that the form of promotion becomes more interesting and is known more widely in the community. Agus also added that training and mentoring in the use of English to serve foreign tourists can increase the skills of MSME groups.
"Mastery of English includes four competencies, namely speaking, writing, listening, and reading," explained Agus.
He said, through all forms of assistance that have been provided, it is certainly hoped that it can have a positive impact on the development of the MSME group in Warung Dedari, such as more people knowing Warung Dedari, buyers getting good service, especially buyers from domestic and foreign tourists because it will be easier to communicate.
"Digital payment tools such as QRIS will also make it easier for buyers to make non-cash payments, and buyers feel more comfortable because the conditions of the place are more organized and neat," explained Agus.
