July 12, 2023. Eradication of vectors, one of which is the Aedes aegypti mosquito, plays an important role in controlling dengue fever cases. Lecturer of Warmadewa University, dr. Putu Indah Budiapsari, M.Si conducted counseling and training for female mosquito larvae cadres in Guwang village which took place at the Guwang Village office.
The materials provided include the use of natural ingredients such as lemongrass, lavender, orange peel, breadfruit flowers, and so on. Of course, those that have the potential for anti-mosquito activity.
Participants were also taught how to make the extract of the natural ingredients, as well as how to use it to repel mosquitoes. The extract can be applied in the form of fumigation.
For example, wax made from breadfruit flowers can be used as a larvicide that is sprinkled in water reservoirs, and can also be applied to the skin as a lotion or repellent.
The results of this activity are expected to increase the knowledge and skills of jumantik cadres in the use and manufacture of natural mosquito repellent.
