The Warmadewa University Community Partnership Program (PKM Unwar) provides English language training to the staff of Taman Baca Kesiman (TBK). PKM Unwar, chaired by Dewa Ayu Kadek Claria, SS, M.Hum., is in the form of introducing excellent service management to the staff of Taman Baca Kesiman through English language training. Dewa Ayu Kadek Claria, SS, M.Hum accompanied by member I Gusti Ngurah Adi Rajistha, SS, M.Hum, explained that the PKM program was implemented with the aim of improving staff services at TBK, especially in using English.
TBK is further explained as a public library created by implementing the concept of educational tourism. TBK, located in the Kesiman area, precisely at Jalan Sedap Malam No. 234, offers the concept of reading in an open space to eliminate the impression of a rigid library. "Kesiman Reading Park was founded in 2014 by a husband and wife, Mr. Agung Alit and Mrs. Hani Duarsa with a location area of 15 ares so the concept of a library with an open space is very supportive considering the fairly large location," he said.
TBK visitors are not only local people but also foreign tourists. Given the concept owned by TBK which is very unique and its location is close to Sanur Village, where many foreign tourists visit and stay in the Sanur area. Foreign tourists generally like to read so that TBK becomes a must-visit place for foreign tourists who like to read to get the concept of reading in an open space. "TBK is often used as a place for community-based activities, both in the context of book reviews, writing classes, internal meetings, public discussions, film screenings, and music concerts. TBK, which has a unique concept, needs to be perfected with excellent service from the staff. The phenomenon was then utilized by the PKM Unwar team to provide English language training," he said. Claria said the concept of excellent service if implemented using Indonesian would certainly be easier for TBK staff to do. But how to interpret excellent service in English is very urgent to do considering the needs of TBK as an educational tourist attraction that has diverse visitors. "This program has been implemented at Taman Baca Kesiman by involving staff and also several students in the form of face-to-face discussions to exchange ideas and experiences with the aim of realizing excellent service," he said. After the training, the management and staff hope that similar training will be held with the theme of interactive communication in English. Considering that it is very necessary in the world of service.
