DENPASAR - In the dry season, cattle farmers can utilize straw waste for animal feed. The use of rice straw as feed through fermentation is also part of the effort to utilize rice straw waste during the rice harvest. "In the dry season, there is difficulty in obtaining feed, on the one hand, the potential for agricultural land is quite extensive, producing straw waste that has not been utilized so far, so if given a touch of technology, its quality can be improved and become a good source of cattle feed," said Head of the Community Service Team of the Faculty of Agriculture, Warmadewa University, Dr. Ir. I dewa Nyoman Sudita, MP, accompanied by Dr. Ir. Yohanes Parlindungan Situmeang, M.Si when met in Denpasar on Saturday (5/6). According to him, the utilization of straw waste as animal feed has not been optimal so far. He gave an example of the less than optimal utilization of straw through fermentation carried out by the Sato Luwih Livestock Group, Kendran Village, Tegalalang, Gianyar. The impact is that during the dry season, farmers have difficulty getting feed. Sudita emphasized that efforts to utilize rice straw on the other hand are efforts to realize organic farming. Where rice straw can be processed into animal feed through fermentation and can also be made into compost.  The Head of the Sato Luwih Livestock Group, I Ketut Canteng, said that the head of the group stated that the village had paid attention to the group by including a proposal for village budget assistance to complete the facilities needed, especially in the processing of organic fertilizer, but this had not yet been realized.
