Gianyar (Atnews) - The Government Science Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Warmadewa University (Unwar) carried out Community Service (PKM) in collaboration with the Sukawati Village Government with Program Partners, namely the Sukawati Village Head and the Sukawati Traditional Village Head which took place in Banjar Palak, Sukawati Village, Sukawati District, Sunday (2/6/2024).
The community service activity with the theme "Synergy of Village Government Policies in Waste Management" was packaged in the form of socialization and simulation in front of the PKK Br. Palak Sukawati Mothers. The Head of the community service Implementation of the Government Science Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Unwar, Wayan Sudana, said that in handling environmental cleanliness, continuous waste management is needed. Therefore, cooperation with all stakeholders is very important.
Especially the involvement of leaders in the village, both the Village Office and the Traditional Village, to be able to increase community knowledge in this waste management. Such as community knowledge in sorting organic and non-organic waste. With the increase in public awareness of waste management knowledge in the future, there will be a positive value, namely it can increase household income.
Sukawati Village Head I Dewa Gde Dwi Putra who opened the community service activity of the Government Science Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Unwar said that in waste processing, the traditional village and the service always work together and synergize. And this has been going on for a long time even though many dynamics need to be fixed. He admitted that there are still obstacles faced by residents in processing waste, especially organic and non-organic waste. Therefore, all residents are required to be able to manage waste based on its source. "The TPA will probably be full in a few years. So it is mandatory for each household to sort waste at home," he explained.
Sukawati Village Head Dwi Putra thanked the Lecturers, Students and stakeholders for their participation and positive appreciation in dealing with the waste problem in Sukawati in particular. Sukawati Village Head explained that currently his party has provided a place to be able to sort waste at home in the form of a kampil. Residents must get used to sorting waste. It cannot be done only once. But it must be continuous. That is why his party is targeting that in 2 years the waste problem in Sukawati can be resolved. In Banjar Palak itself, 60 percent of waste handling and management has been good.
In line with that, the Klian Adat Br. Palak Sukawati also thanked the lecturers and students who carried out community service in his Banjar and at the same time provided education to its residents in waste management. Because the obstacle so far is still the lack of residents who sort waste at home, including residual and organic waste. It is hoped that in 2 years the waste problem in Sukawati can be resolved. In Br. Palak itself, 60 percent of waste handling and management has been good.
